No Excuses

God desires a relationship with each and every one of us. Not a Sunday affair, not a quick prayer here and there, but a intimate relationship with each and every person on this earth. Too bad one can’t force anyone into a relationship or force their love on anyone. God is a gentleman, He only gets intimate with those who are willing to give everything to Him.

There is always at least one thing that hinders us from getting into a committed relationship with Jesus. I call it our “excuse”. One thing I have learned growing up in life, is that every one has an excuse, but no one ever likes them. Some say “excuses are for the weak”, and some say “I have an valid excuse” for whatever the situation may be. However, when it refers to God, excuses really don’t mean much. No background or failure can stop God from using you for His glory. Of course some things we may have done were outrageous and sinful, but that does not matter to God. Man is concerned about what they can see, God is more focused on our hearts. Yes, it is true that God is a holy God and His children should live holy, but we have to understand that God is also our father. Parents, no matter how bad their children sometimes act, will always have a love for them that cannot be broken. All Christians must know that the love of God looks beyond our past and our present, and will love us into our futures. Mercy is not hindered by circumstances, mercy changes circumstances. God will always accept us the way we are, but He loves us too much to leave us that way.

Jesus had Calvary in mind before He created you and I. Therefore, God knows every sin that we would commit before we were born. Even the ones after being saved and we cry about at the altar, yet still go back and do them over and over. So that leads me to believe, that no sin we commit is strong enough to override the plan of God for our lives.

Even in the bible, the greatest men had serious problems. Sin doesn’t change, it may have different disguises, but it’s still the same tests from the devil that we all face. The exact same struggles you have, men struggled with them before.
– There hath no temptation taken you but such as is COMMON to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
– …..And there is no new thing under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

Quit with your excuses! Seriously, just stop. It bothers God and it wastes valuable time that you could be using for God. Jesus is not concerned about your weakness or shortcoming, He already said in 2 Corinthians 12:9, that “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness”. David was the only man said to be after “God’s own heart”, yet he committed adultery and had a man murdered. Paul used to persecute Christians, but God turned Him around to win many souls for the kingdom of God. Peter denied Christ and yet God allowed Him to preach salvation on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2:38. The list goes on and on, you cannot keep using excuses. The men in the bible had faults and disabilities like you, but we see that by faith God still managed to use them.

I pray today that you let go of whatever it is hindering you from submitting completely to Christ. Jesus knows your past, but He is more concerned about your future. Nothing you did before can cause God to love you less and none of your mistakes can cause God to revoke His plan for your life. Living a life of sin or rebellion will of course delay God’s plan for your life, but if you just decide to let God have his way, then nothing will stop you from being great.

“God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called” (Anon).
– You do not have to be perfect to come to God. Those who believe they are perfect won’t see the need for God.
– God came to heal the sick, not for those who feel they have it all together.
– And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:31-32)

Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.
– Never count anyone or yourself out.
– With Jesus, there’s always hope.

Nothing you struggle with is stronger than Jesus Christ. Jesus conquered the grave for us to conquer sin. With His spirit within us, we can quit with the excuses and start to live completely for Him and above our sin.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your love and grace towards me. I pray that everything in me that is hindering me from my purpose and my calling, that you will help me to let go of it or them. Even the sins that I do enjoy, help me to give it up because I love you more than anything. The same way you helped many in the bible, is the same way you can help me. Lord, I am broken, but I know that I’m still on the potter’s wheel. So mold me into whatever it is that you want me to be. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

God bless you,
Tovares Grey

I absolutely love Jesus, and I am unashamed to say that. I'm just a young man with big dreams, but my main purpose in life is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
