Grave Clothes

Oftentimes someone will pray to God and ask Him to “use us”, “bless me” or “be glorified through our lives”. There is nothing wrong with that at all, but we must realize that we have a part to play in that. God cannot bless mess. God will not use someone who isn’t stable or is only a “part-time Christian”. God surely can’t use someone who is double-minded. Wanting Him to use us but then the next day we want to do our own thing. How can God get glory from someone who uses the mic for their own elevation and popularity? Only when we choose to humble ourselves and surrender, can He have His divine will.
Many of us are actual believers, but the problem is that many do not understand what God expects from us. So many say “I accepted Jesus as my Lord and personal savior”. That does not mean you’re set and have nothing to do. By you proclaiming that, you say that “I no longer rule my life, I give Jesus complete control over my mind, body and soul.” If there is no change in our lifestyles, we are only fooling ourselves. On the day of Pentecost, Peter stood up and preached salvation to the onlookers, spectators and mockers. When they asked what should they do, the first thing Peter said was “Repent”, see Acts 2:38.
Repent: to think differently, reconsider (in other words, change direction)
This means repentance is an action. You must produce different results.
Not just saying “I’m saved”, but actually living like Jesus.
If you read John 11, you will see the story of Lazarus’ death and resurrection. Many only preach that Christ is resurrection from here. “Lazarus, come forth”. Jesus said that and Lazarus came out of the grave, but when he came out he was still bound. All of his stink, grave clothes was still binding him. He must have came out hopping or something because he was bound, and in those days you were wrapped up like a mummy. Just because God saved us and redeemed us from sin, doesn’t mean our old tendencies are gone. We are new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), but we still have an old nature that we must get rid of (Colossians 3:8). God won’t do it for us. We have to daily deny ourselves and choose Christ in every decision (Luke 9:23).
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. (John 11:44)
-Jesus gave the people a task: loose Lazarus. Every Christian must help loose one another from their mess.
-It is great to help someone out of their mess or pray with someone until they are set free, but you cannot just leave them that way. Demons come back with more spirits to kill people who haven’t replaced the vacancy with more of God, see Matthew 12:43-45.
-A young minister from my church, Kyle Green, mentioned this to me: A mother doesn’t just give birth to a child and leave him/her on their own (no good/responsible mother at least). They nurture the baby until they are grown or can handle themselves. That’s why so many in churches tend to backslide. They get a touch from God, but not many come and help support and raise them.
What are some of our grave clothes:
Filthy communication
The bible said to LAY THESE ASIDE!
-Hebrews 12:1
-Colossians 3:8
-1 John 5:21 (idols: whatever you give more time to than God)
-Ephesians 5:3-4
It is easy to point out people’s sin when they are so visible like homosexuality for example. However, that is not the only sin. God is not into “big sin” and “little sin”. We must understand that God’s standard is holiness (Hebrews 12:14). We cannot keep comparing ourselves to people. We have to walk like Jesus did. We are to help others and not put them down. Jesus didn’t die for us to attend church, he wants to have a relationship with us. And there will be no relationship with Christ and sin simultaneously, we must choose one or the other. And just in case you don’t know which to choose, I’d say Jesus. Every sin we do may seem fun, because we are used to it, but Jesus is the only thing that can satisfy the hunger/thirst in our souls (John 4:14; 6:35).
I pray that we will honestly examine ourselves and see what needs to be adjusted, because it isn’t as though any of us are flawless. It will be hard to change, because we are conditioned of doing things one way. We just have to understand even though we may like a thing, that doesn’t mean it is pleasing to God. Change is difficult, but God wants us to be renewed and transformed (Romans 12:1-2). Let us daily strip away from the things that trip us up and make us fall into sin or things that just simply take our eyes off Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-3).
God will only use us when we are dead. Dead to our carnal desires and sin. We must be alive to righteousness. All to Jesus, let us surrender.
God bless,

Spiritually Obese Christians

I know that the title of this blog may seem funny to some, and to others may seem offensive. Let me first say, I am not prejudice or a hater of “overweight” people, neither do I make fun of anyone’s figure. Beauty isn’t a shape. I am only giving you what God has placed in my spirit.
In short, obesity is a medical disease caused by an excess of fat build up. One does not become obese over night. If you eat big meals, unhealthy foods, or just eat a lot, eventually you will gain much weight. A person can know if they’ll become obese if they examine their eating habits. That person has a choice of slowing down, exercising, or just not caring. If changes aren’t made, that person will have serious health issues in their future.
Spiritually, we can all be obese and not realize it! Some people often call the devil names like “stupid” or “foolish”, but he has many fooled under his schemes. The devil is not the type of person to just offer you something big at first, because you’ll know to deny it. However, he starts with small portions, and then eventually he has us in his traps. You may be confused so let me give you some examples:
The devil won’t just tempt you to sleep with someone before marriage. He starts off by sending someone your “type”. He makes sure they are kind and that they’re there for you in a low point of your life. That guy/girl isn’t going to just be in your bed overnight. He allows your spirit to weaken through the lustful text messages, the naked pictures, and even the occasional touching. Before you know it, you had sex outside of marriage. He knew if he just threw a person talking about sex at first you wouldn’t fall, so he allowed time for you to grow weak.
Some battle with pornography. He allows you to get on social networks like “Instagram”. At first, things are fine, but after time goes by and all you see is women/men revealing themselves, you’ll be hooked again.
It is like being in a restaurant. The main course is not served at the beginning. First, they’ll offer you many different appetizers.
So many of us have indulged in things and thought it was fine in the beginning and it’ll just be this once, but now our spirits are weak and our flesh are out of control. Is it because we are failures and don’t love God? No, it’s because you’re human. You’re tempted everyday, sometimes you may just fall down.
What do I recommend to those who fall into these situations(not just the examples above)? The Holy Ghost Gym!
How does this gym work?
Prayer is communication with God. We act like those who we spend time with. If we talk with God, we will begin to talk like God. If we walk with Christ, we will begin to walk like Christ.
The more we pray is the more familiar we will be to God’s voice. The real reason why most of us cannot hear God’s voice is because we are listening to so many other voices: friends, family, society, false doctrines/teachings.
In prayer we surrender our will to God’s will. Prayer isn’t where we present our Christmas list to God, it is where we say “not my will, but thine be done” (see Luke 22:42).
Time spent in prayer is not time wasted, it is time invested.
Word of God:
Many read their bibles occasionally, and most even memorize verses. However, that is meaningless if we do not apply it to our lives. Reading God’s Word without the intent to apply is equivalent to chewing food without planning to swallow it.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (James 1:22). God wants us to obey, not just to read and think that’s all He expects of us.
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. (Psalms 119:9). The word will clean us of our sinful lifestyles, if we obey it.
This is not starving yourself. You can actually fast from things other then food (social networks for example).
When you fast, you allow your flesh and carnal desires to decrease while God increases in you, see John 3:30.
Many only fast when they’re in trouble, but this should be an ongoing thing. Fasting brings humility (Psalm 35:13) and fasting also is done to destroy satan’s works and bring deliverance ( see Isaiah 58).
The same way that we get lazy in the natural is the way we are in the spirit. We know when God is calling us to let go of sin, technology, relationships, etc. and get into His word, but we often say “maybe later” or “I’ll get to it after this”. If we want to have a strong relationship with God, we have to start spending more time with Him, and that’s outside of church. God is a gentleman, He won’t force us to do anything. If we want to spend our entire day with our girlfriend/boyfriend, video game, cell phones, social networks etc. He will surely let us.
Many do not work out but yet they don’t gain weight. That is the perfect example of those who have “a form of godliness” or those who “look/act saved”, but yet they have no relationship with God whatsoever. God will say to many who attended church faithfully “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23), and that’s because when we should be spending time with Him we found every excuse to be occupied. When we should’ve been a light in this dark world, we chose to conform and live in sin.
Obesity kills over a period of time, just like sin. It may start off small and end up into something that you cannot control. The one day you take the devils bait and think its fine, he keeps feeding you until you are no longer obeying God, but him. Just because “everyone is doing it” or because it doesn’t seem like a “big sin” doesn’t make it right. Jesus didn’t die to give us an excuse to keep sinning, He died to free us from the power of sin. We no longer have to submit ourselves to please the flesh.
I pray that after reading this blog, someone will go away and make adjustments. We shouldn’t read God’s word and stay the same, it is time to change. Stop accepting the devils offers, you’re better than that.
Continue to fight and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God, in Christ Jesus.
God bless you,
Tovares Grey

Follow Jesus

Salvation is free and available to all who accept the invitation. Unfortunately, so many “accept Jesus as their lord and personal savior”, but never allow Him to reign on the throne of their hearts. It is easy to be a Christian in church and it is very easy to claim you believe in God, but faith without works is dead. So many will speak in tongues but have a mind that isn’t yet renewed. It is easy to wear a nice church outfit, hat, heels and a long skirt, but not everyone allows God to give them a new heart. A heart that hates what God hates and loves what He loves. We shouldn’t just look the part, we must act the part. Not just a form of godliness, but living a lifestyle like Christ.
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. (Luke 9:23)
Deny Himself:
– To continually tell your flesh no. You don’t do the sins that you used to commit and allow to rule your live. Instead, you’re submitting to God. You have lost sight of self and now your eyes are on Jesus.
– This is where you allow your mind to be renewed with the word of God and your heart to be changed in His presence.
– Put away your desires for God’s desires. You rather put your dreams on hold or let them go for the sake of the gospel.
– The old you is dead and gone, but Christ is now living through you.
Take up your cross daily:
– Your share of sufferings with Christ. We want to reign with Him, but first we must suffer with Him (2 Timothy 2:12). Paul was a mighty man of God, but despite everything he done, he still stated that he wanted to know God. One aspect of knowing God he said was being in “fellowship with his sufferings” and “being made conformable unto His death” (Philippians 3:10).
– When carrying a cross, you don’t have strength to carry other things. We shouldn’t be trying to hold on to sin. We cannot walk hand in hand with God and satan simultaneously.
– No cross, no crown. God will give us beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3), but we must get burned first. Jesus couldn’t rise as king if He wasn’t crucified first.
Follow Jesus:
– You are obedient to His word. Even to the ones that you don’t want to obey, you submit to His divine will over your own desires.
– Wherever God leads, you follow. Even when times seem hard, you trust His plan.
– Hold tightly to Him. You know that without His word, you cannot live.
– You conform and begin to act the same way He does. Whoever you hang around is going to rub off on you. If you’ve been around Jesus a long time, it’ll be displayed in your lifestyle and in the way you treat others. If you’ve haven’t, that’ll be very obvious as well.
– You are the reflection of the company you keep, the things you entertain, and the motives of your heart.
One thing we must realize that following Jesus isn’t just “do’s” and “dont’s”. It’s about breaking up with the world and falling in love with Jesus. When you love Jesus, no one has to tell you to obey Him, you’ll want to (John 14:15). “….his commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3), which means the things God requires of us are not overwhelming or too much to handle. Holiness is only a problem for someone who hasn’t made up their mind that their living completely for Jesus.
Let today be the day that you decide who you will serve. Will you serve the living God, Jesus? Or will you continue to live for the god of your emotions, indulging in a life of sin and selfish ambitions? Jesus is asking us for everything, because those who are playing church actually have no use to God (Revelation 3:16). God doesn’t want us to just attend church, ministry begins outside of the church. Christianity is more than singing on choirs or playing instruments, it’s having a relationship with the Creator. When Jesus said “follow me”, he didn’t mean “look at me from a far”, “life will be easy”, nor did He say “watch others”. Jesus simply bids us to follow closely beside Him, having an intimate connection to Him and His presence. So let’s put aside the games and distractions and start actually living what we read.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for being such a great God. I do not know why you would choose me to be your child, but I am willingly accepting your request. Strengthen me as I follow You, because sometimes life seems hard and lonely. I pray that you’ll continue to guide me, in Jesus name, amen!

In the hearts of all mankind, there is a gap in our lives that God leaves empty. That is a void that can only be replaced by Him. Unfortunately, so many of us seek to fill it with things of this world: relationships, money, power, sex, etc. Even modern day christians, we have Jesus in our lives, but we don’t always have a deep, intimate connection with Him. Yes we may encounter Him, but we don’t give Him the chance to dwell in us. Yes, many of us are filled with the Holy Spirit, but not all of us are led by the Holy Spirit.
What if I told you that God is tired of us cheating on Him? We love Him oh so dearly on Sundays or in church services, but we cheat on Him the rest of the week. Cheating on Him in sin. Choosing to please our flesh and indulging in things that God doesn’t approve of, instead of finding ways to please God more. How many times has God wanted us to put down the cell phones, turn off the televisions, get out of meaningless relationships, or just turn from sins we cling so closely to, but we decided to ignore His voice. We all have been in these situations, and God is really trying to get our attention. Sometimes God will allow tragedy or people to abandon us, so we can turn back to Him.
Imagine if we read more bible verses than text messages, we would know so much about Jesus. Imagine if we got so excited about Jesus as we do at sports events, pep rallies, or over famous musicians. The president election caused so much hype on social networks, what if we shared Jesus that very same way? Just think about it, what if we spent hours in prayer as we do hours on the phone or gossiping. The same amount of time we take to walk the malls, if we invested that time to just evangelize to at least 10 people, so much more people would be saved. We stand outside stores all night for phones, video games, or the best deals. Yet, it is so hard for us to pray all night, or at least for an hour.
If we continue to keep ignoring God’s call for intimacy, eventually we won’t hear Him calling anymore. God will always love us unconditionally, but He cannot force us to love Him. When we allow our eyes to be blinded with sin or carnal things, we lose sight of God. When we begin to listen to everyone but God: people, the media, and what society says, we won’t have ears keen enough to hear the voice of God. I can write this today because I know what it is to ignore God, we all have if we can be honest with ourselves. It is time to stop worshiping creation and start worshiping the Creator!
Just to clarify, being a Christian doesn’t mean you will never do anything outside of church. Of course you’ll like sports, shop, etc., but we should never allow these things to consume God’s time! Of course you’ll watch television, but you’ll know to be careful of what you allow your eyes to look and meditate on.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. (Lamentations 3:40)
Heavenly Father, I give you thanks and praise because You are a great God. I ask you for forgiveness for the selfish lifestyle I have been living and I ask you for grace. Grace that is sufficient to see my through my tough situations. Please give me the strength to turn from sin and to never look back. I want to be more than an ordinary servant. Help me to be willing and obedient, so that I can please You. Continue to guide me, each and everyday, Lord. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

The Bible, My Guide

When searching for something in a dark room, the first thing someone would do is turn on a light. It is almost impossible to be in a pitch black room and be able to find different objects. As Christians we have to understand that not only are we the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:14), but the word of God brings light to us. We must read and study it.
I once said that if you have time for Facebook, you have time for God. I thought it was a reasonable and non-offensive post, yet not everyone felt that way. I have noticed that many doctrines or churches have gave their members the wrong impression of God. We know that we are saved by grace, so now many believe “I’m set, and there’s nothing to do”. Beyond false! Legalism is reading your bible and praying as a ritual, to-do list, or to justify yourself. Jesus said we live by the Word of God (Matthew 4:4). We should be in our words because that is our only way of survival. If we don’t make time to learn about God then we will always have a carnal mind, and that’s a mind that will never please God (Romans 8:6-8). So don’t let someone give you the impression that you don’t have to read or study a lot.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalms 119:105)
– We live in a world full of darkness. Darkness is found in the media, music, schools, jobs, and almost everywhere that you can possibly go.
– The bible brings light into our dark situations. When we do not know what decision to make, the bible is said to be a light on our path.
– Many of us are in circles with people that hate us and dislike us but we cannot see. The bible is a lamp to our feet. We will never see the snakes on the floor unless we are in our bible! Neither will we know that the word said bad communication will corrupt us(1 Corinthians 15:33).
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. (Hosea 4:6)
– People believe the devil is the one trying to kill them, but actually we are the ones killing ourselves by our own ignorance.
– Being ignorant of satan’s tricks will cause us to fail time and time again.
– This scripture says that we have REJECTED knowledge! When we want to learn how to work a phone, we keep trying until we get it right. When we want to learn how to drive, we keep messing up and trying until we get it right. When in relationships, we spend time with them to see what they like and dislike. God sees all of that! So when we claim we don’t have time, He understands that we just don’t want to. When we claim to not understand a scripture, he watches to see if we will pray about it or just won’t care at all to figure it out.
– If we reject God (bible), He will reject us, and even our children.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:17)
– In this spiritual warfare that we are in, we can only defend ourselves with the word of God.
– Jesus rebuked satan with the scriptures, Matthew 4. Not with tongues, songs or any other source.
Lord Jesus, I come to you because I need you. I cannot live or walk in life without your word, so I pray that you give me a hunger for your word. I pray that when I read, that I’ll take heed and obey everything that I read. Help me to do more than study, but to apply the scriptures to my life. Quicken me with your words. Let Your words come to life and manifest in me. In Jesus name, amen!

Weak Warriors

Even though we are believers and followers of Christ, we will all have a weakness in one or more areas of our lives. That doesn’t mean you aren’t more than a conqueror, it just means you have some areas that need to be strengthened.
Many of us have battled with:
1. Insecurities
2. Inconsistency
3. Molestation/rape/abuse
4. Doubt
5. Sin (this is everyone)
Jesus knows all about our struggles, and sees where we fall short. He knows that at times we will fail, but He sees worth in us. Our weaknesses can never overpower us, if we are trusting and leaning on God. We only fall short when we take our eyes off of Christ, when we rely on our own strength, or when we play with things God said to leave alone.
Paul was a mighty man of God, yet he had a problem that he prayed about. He asked God to remove it three times and Jesus said “no, his grace is sufficient” (2 Corinthians 12:9). That is what God is saying to us, “I won’t take away the problem, I’ll strengthen you so that you can overcome it.” We find strength in our weakness. The bible says, let the weak say, I am strong. (Joel 3:10). I understand you may feel defeated and weak now, but that doesn’t stop the purpose God has for you! The reason why you can mess up and still get back up is the cross! Jesus knew what we’d do wrong before He died. Jesus isn’t through with you yet, don’t give up! Some things you went through and no one can say you deserved it, but God has a plan for your life. Some things happened to destroy you, but God allowed it to empower you!
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. (Genesis 50:20)
And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
Heavenly Father, I thank you for your grace and kindness towards me. I know that I am weak, in many areas, but you are strong. Help me to find strength in You. Through you I can do all things, and I can overcome every struggle in my life. I pray that you keep me and guide me, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Unshakeable Faith

There are three types of people in this world:
1. Those going into a storm
2. Those already in a storm
3. Those coming out of a storm
In this life we must all know that we will face trials. No matter who we are, one thing we cannot escape is problems. So many trust in their riches, friends, and even in their own intellect. Not saying that these are bad, but every one of these resources can fail us. If you’re sick and about to die, do you believe you will be healed because you’re rich or have a masters degree? No not at all, which is why each and everyone of us need our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can see us through each and every single problem that we can possibly face!
We all claim and profess to have faith and trust God when times are going well. However, when it gets a little rocky, it is very easy for us to begin to doubt God. Not too long ago a child in my church was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors said he will die in two days without surgery, and with surgery he would turn out “mentally challenged”. Yet, we did not put our trust in doctors, we placed our faith in God. Now I can tell you that months went by and he is now healed because of God. My mother was told she had a lump in her breast and of course it was a bit nerve wrecking, but we trusted God. He healed her body and now she has no cancer. I mentioned my mother because times are still hard after. I reminded her recently, “if God can heal cancer, then He can take care of your bills”.
MANY are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them ALL. (Psalm 34:19)
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8)
– If God was a healer yesterday, He still is today, and He surely will be the same God tomorrow.
– God helped people before, what makes you think He has forgotten you?
– The bible isn’t full of fairy tales. Whatever the Bible states happened and can happen again!
– If He worked out a situation before, He can again, so please don’t get worried.
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:46-49)
– This shows us that every single person will go through a problem, no matter who you are.
– Only those who are obedient to God and trust in Him will stand after troubles come their way.
– Those without faith and a firm foundation in Christ will fall under pressure.
But without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Dear Lord, I come to you as humble as I know how. I really don’t know what my future holds, but I trust you because I know that You hold my future. Help me not to fear no matter what comes my way. As I go through my many tests, I pray that you increase my faith. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

My Worth

No matter who you are, where you are from, your age, or your lifestyle you want to be loved and accepted. When God created us, He took deep thought into it. No two people on Earth are the same, so He must have obviously designed us all special. Twins even have different character traits.
One will go to great lengths to be loved or find acceptance. When someone is in a relationship or wants someone to notice them, you can bet that they will dress their best, act their best, and do everything in their power to attract the other person. Some people we would have never guessed that we would be friends with, but they changed something that made them seem more like-able or presentable. An example would be a nerdy kid that starts to smoke so he could fit in with the bad guys, or a insecure young lady who shows off her body to get attention from guys or get in popular circle.
In society today, we are given the impression that you either fit this category or you’re a nobody. I remember I once wore a pair of shoes to school (chuck Taylor’s), and I promise a few guys made fun of me. Literally, a weeks or months later, a famous rapper had them on and made a song about it, and the same guys who laughed at me, began to wear them. Now I’m sitting here thinking to myself, it is beyond crazy what people do to look cool or to “fit in”. I once was the loser, but now they are wearing the same thing as me.
Christians, please stop trying to fit in. God has called us to stand out. I notice so much how in church we can act, talk, dress, and do things like the world. Let me guarantee you this, the world is miserable. The world is driven back and forth by a new style, trend, song, economy, etc. every day. The only place one can find peace and stability is in Jesus Christ and His word, the bible. The world is like a ship without a sail or anchor, they go wherever the winds blow.
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1-3)
– Notice that it starts off with if. Only you who claim to be a Christian should do this.
– Affection: to interest oneself in, regard, savour, think (Greek). Your interests should be heavenly and should be pleasing God biblically, not on worldly things.
– You are dead. Dead = slain (Greek). I do not believe dead people care about Jordan’s, Nike, high heels, fancy jewelry. Nor do I believe they worry about music, followers on social networks and dating. God says that you should be dead with these simple things. Our focus shouldn’t be on things.
– Of course you’re human and must survive, but seek first the kingdom and God will provide these simple things that you need (See Matthew 6:33).
No one wants to be hated or be the oddball, I understand that. However, God said the world will hate you because you do not belong to them. They hated Jesus because He came and flipped the script on them, what makes you any better than your master?
– If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. (John 15:18-20)
– You do not belong to the world, so don’t try to fit in with them.
– The world doesn’t need you. Jesus died for you to be a light to this world. Stop walking in darkness and shine!
– It isn’t fair for me to be lost and you know the way, but instead of you showing the way, you walk around lost with me.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NLT)
Your worth is not in:
• A man/woman nor husband/wife. They can die or dump you.
• Money: It can be stolen, lost, and it surely doesn’t come with you when you die.
• People’s opinions: They will get rid of you as soon as you do not meet the criteria or they find someone/something better.
• A degree: This doesn’t qualify you as a Christian. Many have degrees without jobs in their fields. A degree doesn’t stop the devil from attacking you.
• What you own: Health can be taken away from you. Clothes will run out if style and you’ll have to get more to “fit in”. A car doesn’t move without gas, therefore it shouldn’t be your god. A cell phone doesn’t determine your status or change the way God sees you.
• Your good works: You were saved by grace and you won’t make it without grace.
• Your gifts, talents, or anointing: Those are from God and He could strip you of everything if He wanted to.
• Your figure: We should be focused on pointing people to Jesus, not showing off our bodies. Many cause people to lust and stumble, do not be the reason your brother/sister falls into sin.
Your worth is in one place:
No person or thing should be placed before God. We must stop idolizing our technology. Some people don’t realize it but we worship ourselves and our possessions. The bible is our spiritual mirror. We should look in there and see where we line up and see what needs to be adjusted, but some look in natural mirrors more. Worrying more about their appearance than their spirit. We cannot go a day without our phone or a social network, but a day without our bible and prayer doesn’t make us uneasy. Your worth is only found in Christ, so let your affections and desires be found in Him!
Heavenly Father, I come to you because you alone are God. I recognize that I have neglected you in some areas of my life. Your word says that I am complete in You, so help me to know that I am accepted by You and I don’t need to go to other sources for validation. Even if the world rejects me, help me to always turn to You, because you’re all that I need. Help me to see the idols that I have set up in my life, even if I made my own self my god. Help me to place you back on top and keep you there. Lord I just want to be used by you, and to please you in every way. So keep me, and let Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus name, amen.
God bless,
Tovares Grey
