Stop Chasing Butterflies

I receive many questions from people who want to know how can they tell if someone is the one for them. We’ve made a YouTube video about the concept of “the one” and wrote a blog about knowing how you can tell if they’re the one for you, you should check it out if you haven’t already. However, it confuses me when someone says they’re with someone who’s amazing and loves God, treats them right, but something is missing.
“Well…. what’s missing?”
“I don’t know. I just don’t have those butterflies I’d expect to have.”

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)

Can I tell you something that you know, but can easily forget? Your feelings will destroy you. Your feelings will have you running back to relationships that God delivered you out of. Your feelings will have you running back to abusive relationships, because you’re focused on memories instead of reality. Your feelings will have you thinking it’s okay to to let your flesh take control, but you know in your heart what God is telling you to do.
If you want to know true love, look at the Bible’s definition of it (1 Corinthians 13). Too many expect life to be like Love and Basketball or The Notebook. All of these Disney and movie fantasies will have you ignoring your blessing that you’re praying about. Many people want a godly relationship, but when they have a godly person in their lives that’ll correct them when they’re falling or lukewarm, they take it as judgement. So you want a godly relationship, but you don’t want God? Some people claim they want true love, but they really just want someone they can post on social media. Just because all of your friends are dating or married, that doesn’t mean God is telling you to do the same.
Don’t get me wrong, I love being married, but I honestly believe many of us don’t understand that marriage is way more than we think. We have to understand that marriage is a ministry as well and God has to prepare us for it. I honestly believe our motives are what causes us to have our blessings delayed (read more about that here).

“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” 2 Corinthians 5:7

I’ve learned that we live in a generation of people that are driven by emotions (see Provers 30:12). We disregard the word of God, and we go by opinions instead of scripture. We don’t like correction, because our feelings are placed higher than God at times.

“There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.” (Proverbs‬ ‭30:12‬)

There are days when my marriage isn’t all sunshine and roses. I absolutely love my wife and our marriage is great (she said so as well, so don’t think I’m being dramatic lol). However, that does NOT mean we are happy every single waking moment of the day. There are some days when it’s like she can’t wait to hug me, and there are some times when I’m sure her hands just want to hug my neck. If we go by those days when there are no “butterflies”, we’d foolishly think God didn’t bring us together. When we don’t feel those “butterflies”, does that mean it’s time to jump ship? No. It’s time to keep cultivating our love so it doesn’t die out.
Does that mean I’m telling you to settle? NO, PLEASE DON’T SETTLE. I get butterflies when I’m around my wife still. But you have to understand feelings should not dictate your future. Pray regarding that person. If God gives you peace regarding them and He gives you confirmation to keeping the relationship, then don’t give up on them just because you don’t feel happy all the time.
Grace and peace.

Breath of God

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)
God formed man out of dust. We were nonexistent, nothing to be admired, looked on or of even worth. Even when God formed us, we had no use whatsoever. Adam BECAME a living soul AFTER God breathed into him.
This is the very reason we need the breath of God to blow on and within us. Without God’s spirit we would still be dead and useless. Without His spirit, we would still be in sin, the world, and lost without a hope of salvation. When Jesus’ death reached our hearts and the moment we surrendered to Him, God breathed life into us.
God uses the outcasts, the rejected, the broken, poor, and the weak to show the world that we are all nothing without Him, but we can do everything THROUGH Him. It isn’t about where you came from, as long as God is behind you, nothing can stop you (Romans 8:31). Degrees, beauty, riches, and popularity doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that God is with us, nothing will be able to stop us then.
The children of Israel were labeled as a valley of dry bones (Ezekiel 37).
– Dry bones have no more use, you surely cannot find anything to do with them.
– There was absolutely NO life in them, so you know people ignored and gave up on them.
– When Ezekiel prophesied and believed God, The Lord breathed on the bones and they began to come together.
– Not only did they come together, but they became a great army.
It doesn’t matter how insignificant you were, when God breathes on you, you become great and you’re equipped to do His work.
– Moses had a speech impediment, but God used him.
– Timothy was young, but God used him.
– David killed and committed adultery, yet God used him.
– Paul was once a murderer of believers and turned into a GREAT missionary.
– We have our imperfections, flaws and carnal ways that make us feel that we cannot fulfill God’s call, but if you feel that way just ask Him to breathe on you once again. David was still a man after God’s heart. Many may judge you by your mistake, but you are not your mistake. You’re God’s child!
When God breathes in you, your spirit is awakened. Pray for God to breathe on you once again. Even if you feel He’s not listening, just keep seeking. Keep praying and reading His word. His word says He will fill you when you are hungry/thirsty.
In the beginning, when God decided to make the world, His Word says the earth was void and without a shape. However, it said that the Spirit of God moved on the waters (Genesis 1:2). God had to move on the earth before He went further. God wants to breathe on us once again. In the book of Acts, God poured His spirit out while the people were praying (Acts 2). That’s because He said in Luke 24:49, that they should wait for Him to empower them. Acts 1:8, said the Holy Spirit will give us power. Let’s not go further without asking God to breathe on us, ask Him today. God bless!

God Has a Standard

It is sad at how the morals of the world have become so low. We are seeing more funerals than graduations, and more baby showers than weddings. People look at tragedies and blame God, but these will be the same people that reject Him daily or say He doesn’t exist. Most times no one looks to the bible on how they should live, but everyone lives off of their own opinions and are self driven.
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. (Proverbs 16:25)
It is easy to believe in Jesus, but it’s impossible to say you’re a Christian but still continue to be an habitual sinner. The bible calls us to repentance, turning away from all sin and going to Jesus, and to a complete mind transformation/renewal (Romans 12:2). We need our minds renewed because whatever we think, we will do. If you think right, you’ll do right. If you think about sin all day, your body will want to do the act. In today’s society we have so many claiming to be Christians, but they just aren’t producing the fruit that they should. Am I saying they’re hypocrites and on the way to Hell? No, because we are saved by grace, not by what Tovares thinks. However, the bible says that the people who are God’s sons aren’t the ones who just have the spirit in them, but His children are the ones who allow His spirit to lead and direct them (Romans 8:14). Living for Christ is more than what we do for Him or our Sunday rituals, our faith is shown in our obedience to God’s word. We only really believe what we practice. If I believe exercise will make me look nice and stay healthy, I would do it. If I believe driving is more convenient than walking, I will drive. However, a man cannot say I know exercise is beneficial to my life and just not make the time for it. Neither can I say driving is more convenient than walking, but I don’t plan to get a license, buy a car or get behind the wheel. I can respect someone who says “I know Jesus is real, but I just don’t feel like surrendering all to Him right now”, rather than someone who says “I’m a Christian” but the lifestyle contradicts them totally. They will still party, fornicate, gossip, hate people, forgive sometimes, don’t evangelize, never feed the less fortunate, etc. I really wonder if we read the entire bible. God told us to go out and do something, not just to sing songs and go to Heaven. Many want to sit at God’s table, but not all are willing to work in His field.
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion…..(Amos 6:1)
In today’s society, many are just doing what they feel is right. People no longer seek The Lord, so their perception of right and wrong is distorted. We watch shows that promote sin and yet criticize the person in church who can’t sing well but uses their voice to bring glory to God. We no longer hate sin, we just hate the sins we see in others. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for more reasons than homosexuality (Ezekiel 16:49-50). We can’t keep looking down on homosexuals/lesbians and we are full of sin ourselves. I’ve noticed that if I try to hang out, play sports or just relax, everyone is free. If I say lets pray together, only a few would be willing. I’m not better than them, but many people are forgetting that we need to forsake sin and seek Jesus. How can we lift one another up if we keep looking down on people?
Contrary to popular belief, God rules, not the majority. It doesn’t matter if something becomes popular or common, if God’s word is against it, it remains wrong. Many have been quarreling about the rights for the homosexual community, and whether or not they should be able to get married. We must first understand that, God gives every man free-will. Even though that may not be God’s plan, He still allows them to do whatever they want. Does God loves homosexuals? Of course He does, but God never have and never will support sin. It was sin in the bible so it is sin now. It does not matter if people want to be “politically correct” and call it a “sexual preference”, God calls it an abomination (Leviticus 18:22). Many are thinking that its okay to dress provocatively or take half naked pictures for social networks, or boyfriends and girlfriends, but God’s word said to be modest (1 Timothy 2:9-10) and to flee fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18). This isn’t judging, because I’m not perfect. However, I will preach God’s word whether that makes me popular or not. Jesus loved sinners enough to correct them, if we love people we will tell them the truth.
Biblical holiness is very rare today, many love to say no one is perfect, but that’s no excuse not to try. Many people will never become who God has designed them to be, because they’re too busy trying to be someone else. If we aim to be like our pastor, parents, mentors, etc we will never know who we are. Elijah didn’t turn Elisha into a copy of himself. When he left, he made him twice the man that he was. We must understand that God did not create us to be like someone else, the only person we should try to imitate is Jesus. Right is right, even if you’re the only one doing it. Wrong is wrong even if it is popular.
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: (Hebrews 12:14)
Make every effort to live a clean life before God. The bible says to stay away from the appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22). The problem that we have is that we want to experiment and partake in everything offered to us. Choose today to stay away from sin. Will we mess up? Of course, maybe even before the night is over. However, we don’t have to make our mistake become a lifestyle. Live pure. Follow Christ, not the crowds. Don’t compare yourself to people because God made you differently. Learn to measure yourself up in His word and see where you need improvement and what needs to be fixed. Just the same as we do naturally. Everyone looks in the mirror to make sure they look okay. We must do so spiritually. Get into the bible and see what you need to fix.
A few scriptures to remember:
-Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” (2 Timothy 2:19)
– For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. (Titus 2:11-14)
– Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)
– Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? (2 Corinthians 13:5)
– My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them! (Proverbs 1:10)
God bless!

Follow Jesus

Salvation is free and available to all who accept the invitation. Unfortunately, so many “accept Jesus as their lord and personal savior”, but never allow Him to reign on the throne of their hearts. It is easy to be a Christian in church and it is very easy to claim you believe in God, but faith without works is dead. So many will speak in tongues but have a mind that isn’t yet renewed. It is easy to wear a nice church outfit, hat, heels and a long skirt, but not everyone allows God to give them a new heart. A heart that hates what God hates and loves what He loves. We shouldn’t just look the part, we must act the part. Not just a form of godliness, but living a lifestyle like Christ.
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. (Luke 9:23)
Deny Himself:
– To continually tell your flesh no. You don’t do the sins that you used to commit and allow to rule your live. Instead, you’re submitting to God. You have lost sight of self and now your eyes are on Jesus.
– This is where you allow your mind to be renewed with the word of God and your heart to be changed in His presence.
– Put away your desires for God’s desires. You rather put your dreams on hold or let them go for the sake of the gospel.
– The old you is dead and gone, but Christ is now living through you.
Take up your cross daily:
– Your share of sufferings with Christ. We want to reign with Him, but first we must suffer with Him (2 Timothy 2:12). Paul was a mighty man of God, but despite everything he done, he still stated that he wanted to know God. One aspect of knowing God he said was being in “fellowship with his sufferings” and “being made conformable unto His death” (Philippians 3:10).
– When carrying a cross, you don’t have strength to carry other things. We shouldn’t be trying to hold on to sin. We cannot walk hand in hand with God and satan simultaneously.
– No cross, no crown. God will give us beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3), but we must get burned first. Jesus couldn’t rise as king if He wasn’t crucified first.
Follow Jesus:
– You are obedient to His word. Even to the ones that you don’t want to obey, you submit to His divine will over your own desires.
– Wherever God leads, you follow. Even when times seem hard, you trust His plan.
– Hold tightly to Him. You know that without His word, you cannot live.
– You conform and begin to act the same way He does. Whoever you hang around is going to rub off on you. If you’ve been around Jesus a long time, it’ll be displayed in your lifestyle and in the way you treat others. If you’ve haven’t, that’ll be very obvious as well.
– You are the reflection of the company you keep, the things you entertain, and the motives of your heart.
One thing we must realize that following Jesus isn’t just “do’s” and “dont’s”. It’s about breaking up with the world and falling in love with Jesus. When you love Jesus, no one has to tell you to obey Him, you’ll want to (John 14:15). “….his commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3), which means the things God requires of us are not overwhelming or too much to handle. Holiness is only a problem for someone who hasn’t made up their mind that their living completely for Jesus.
Let today be the day that you decide who you will serve. Will you serve the living God, Jesus? Or will you continue to live for the god of your emotions, indulging in a life of sin and selfish ambitions? Jesus is asking us for everything, because those who are playing church actually have no use to God (Revelation 3:16). God doesn’t want us to just attend church, ministry begins outside of the church. Christianity is more than singing on choirs or playing instruments, it’s having a relationship with the Creator. When Jesus said “follow me”, he didn’t mean “look at me from a far”, “life will be easy”, nor did He say “watch others”. Jesus simply bids us to follow closely beside Him, having an intimate connection to Him and His presence. So let’s put aside the games and distractions and start actually living what we read.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for being such a great God. I do not know why you would choose me to be your child, but I am willingly accepting your request. Strengthen me as I follow You, because sometimes life seems hard and lonely. I pray that you’ll continue to guide me, in Jesus name, amen!

Unshakeable Faith

There are three types of people in this world:
1. Those going into a storm
2. Those already in a storm
3. Those coming out of a storm
In this life we must all know that we will face trials. No matter who we are, one thing we cannot escape is problems. So many trust in their riches, friends, and even in their own intellect. Not saying that these are bad, but every one of these resources can fail us. If you’re sick and about to die, do you believe you will be healed because you’re rich or have a masters degree? No not at all, which is why each and everyone of us need our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can see us through each and every single problem that we can possibly face!
We all claim and profess to have faith and trust God when times are going well. However, when it gets a little rocky, it is very easy for us to begin to doubt God. Not too long ago a child in my church was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors said he will die in two days without surgery, and with surgery he would turn out “mentally challenged”. Yet, we did not put our trust in doctors, we placed our faith in God. Now I can tell you that months went by and he is now healed because of God. My mother was told she had a lump in her breast and of course it was a bit nerve wrecking, but we trusted God. He healed her body and now she has no cancer. I mentioned my mother because times are still hard after. I reminded her recently, “if God can heal cancer, then He can take care of your bills”.
MANY are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them ALL. (Psalm 34:19)
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8)
– If God was a healer yesterday, He still is today, and He surely will be the same God tomorrow.
– God helped people before, what makes you think He has forgotten you?
– The bible isn’t full of fairy tales. Whatever the Bible states happened and can happen again!
– If He worked out a situation before, He can again, so please don’t get worried.
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:46-49)
– This shows us that every single person will go through a problem, no matter who you are.
– Only those who are obedient to God and trust in Him will stand after troubles come their way.
– Those without faith and a firm foundation in Christ will fall under pressure.
But without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Dear Lord, I come to you as humble as I know how. I really don’t know what my future holds, but I trust you because I know that You hold my future. Help me not to fear no matter what comes my way. As I go through my many tests, I pray that you increase my faith. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

My Worth

No matter who you are, where you are from, your age, or your lifestyle you want to be loved and accepted. When God created us, He took deep thought into it. No two people on Earth are the same, so He must have obviously designed us all special. Twins even have different character traits.
One will go to great lengths to be loved or find acceptance. When someone is in a relationship or wants someone to notice them, you can bet that they will dress their best, act their best, and do everything in their power to attract the other person. Some people we would have never guessed that we would be friends with, but they changed something that made them seem more like-able or presentable. An example would be a nerdy kid that starts to smoke so he could fit in with the bad guys, or a insecure young lady who shows off her body to get attention from guys or get in popular circle.
In society today, we are given the impression that you either fit this category or you’re a nobody. I remember I once wore a pair of shoes to school (chuck Taylor’s), and I promise a few guys made fun of me. Literally, a weeks or months later, a famous rapper had them on and made a song about it, and the same guys who laughed at me, began to wear them. Now I’m sitting here thinking to myself, it is beyond crazy what people do to look cool or to “fit in”. I once was the loser, but now they are wearing the same thing as me.
Christians, please stop trying to fit in. God has called us to stand out. I notice so much how in church we can act, talk, dress, and do things like the world. Let me guarantee you this, the world is miserable. The world is driven back and forth by a new style, trend, song, economy, etc. every day. The only place one can find peace and stability is in Jesus Christ and His word, the bible. The world is like a ship without a sail or anchor, they go wherever the winds blow.
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1-3)
– Notice that it starts off with if. Only you who claim to be a Christian should do this.
– Affection: to interest oneself in, regard, savour, think (Greek). Your interests should be heavenly and should be pleasing God biblically, not on worldly things.
– You are dead. Dead = slain (Greek). I do not believe dead people care about Jordan’s, Nike, high heels, fancy jewelry. Nor do I believe they worry about music, followers on social networks and dating. God says that you should be dead with these simple things. Our focus shouldn’t be on things.
– Of course you’re human and must survive, but seek first the kingdom and God will provide these simple things that you need (See Matthew 6:33).
No one wants to be hated or be the oddball, I understand that. However, God said the world will hate you because you do not belong to them. They hated Jesus because He came and flipped the script on them, what makes you any better than your master?
– If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. (John 15:18-20)
– You do not belong to the world, so don’t try to fit in with them.
– The world doesn’t need you. Jesus died for you to be a light to this world. Stop walking in darkness and shine!
– It isn’t fair for me to be lost and you know the way, but instead of you showing the way, you walk around lost with me.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NLT)
Your worth is not in:
• A man/woman nor husband/wife. They can die or dump you.
• Money: It can be stolen, lost, and it surely doesn’t come with you when you die.
• People’s opinions: They will get rid of you as soon as you do not meet the criteria or they find someone/something better.
• A degree: This doesn’t qualify you as a Christian. Many have degrees without jobs in their fields. A degree doesn’t stop the devil from attacking you.
• What you own: Health can be taken away from you. Clothes will run out if style and you’ll have to get more to “fit in”. A car doesn’t move without gas, therefore it shouldn’t be your god. A cell phone doesn’t determine your status or change the way God sees you.
• Your good works: You were saved by grace and you won’t make it without grace.
• Your gifts, talents, or anointing: Those are from God and He could strip you of everything if He wanted to.
• Your figure: We should be focused on pointing people to Jesus, not showing off our bodies. Many cause people to lust and stumble, do not be the reason your brother/sister falls into sin.
Your worth is in one place:
No person or thing should be placed before God. We must stop idolizing our technology. Some people don’t realize it but we worship ourselves and our possessions. The bible is our spiritual mirror. We should look in there and see where we line up and see what needs to be adjusted, but some look in natural mirrors more. Worrying more about their appearance than their spirit. We cannot go a day without our phone or a social network, but a day without our bible and prayer doesn’t make us uneasy. Your worth is only found in Christ, so let your affections and desires be found in Him!
Heavenly Father, I come to you because you alone are God. I recognize that I have neglected you in some areas of my life. Your word says that I am complete in You, so help me to know that I am accepted by You and I don’t need to go to other sources for validation. Even if the world rejects me, help me to always turn to You, because you’re all that I need. Help me to see the idols that I have set up in my life, even if I made my own self my god. Help me to place you back on top and keep you there. Lord I just want to be used by you, and to please you in every way. So keep me, and let Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus name, amen.
God bless,
Tovares Grey

Eyes on Jesus

I fell short…. Months went by, and I didn’t repeat it. I must be free now, praise The Lord. Here comes the opportunity arising, and BAM! Fell into the same sin again. So now I’m at the altar, “Lord I’m sorry, please forgive me”. Feeling good, and sin free. Next thing I know, I’m back at the altar once again, crying because I did the same act once again. The same exact one that I promised God that I wouldn’t commit.
Does this sound familiar? Shrugs, maybe not for you, but for me it was. This was my constant cycle that I couldn’t seem to break out of. I don’t have much shame, I believe if I’m being transparent, then I can help someone. Sexual temptation was the hardest thing in my life that I just could not seem to shake. Touching women that I’m not married to, lusting in my heart, even following women on Instagram that obviously dressed explicitly. I fed my sin instead of starving it. Promising God that I’ll do my best, and failing so often.
Maybe your sin is different then mine, but Hebrews 12:1 shows that everyone has a sin that easily makes them stumble. Does this mean you are a bad person or a hypocritical Christian? Not at all. Only those with a struggle show that they are trying to resist the lies from the devil. If you aren’t struggling, maybe the devil already has a grip on you.
However, this temptation was a stronghold over my life because it was all I focused on. I was not focused on Jesus, I was only focused on avoiding the sin. That’s where we all go wrong. We try to please God by doing good works, when God is saying, “I want you so wrapped up in my love, until sin is no longer an option. I want my desires to become your desires.” Over this past week in my church’s Youth Conference, I’ve learned that fear crippled me. I wasn’t seeking to please God. Instead, I was afraid of doing that sin again, afraid of how people viewed me, and even afraid that I’m living wrong and headed to Hell.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
– Many of us are so afraid of people. Lived a life full of ridicule and criticism. We now see that many are slaves to acceptance, but these people usually die from rejection.
– I didn’t strive to be holy, I strived not to commit a sin. God doesn’t want us in a mindset where we have a list of “do’s” and “don’t’s”. Rather, Jesus wants us in a relationship with Him that will give us different desires.
– I didn’t understand God’s perfect love, but the more time I spend with Him and His word I now see that His love is overwhelming. I also see that His love overrides all the fear in my life.
– If I love Jesus back, I’ll live for Him no matter the cost. I can be just like the apostles who even obeyed God when their lives were in jeopardy.
– If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15)
For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. (Job 3:25)
– Whatever you fear will come to you. Job was offering sacrifices for His children because they could’ve cursed God and died. We see here that his fear came into existence.
– Revelation 21:8 says the first ones getting thrown into the lake of fire are the “fearful”.
– Jesus has conquered your fears, and the spirit of fear is not from God! See 2 Timothy 1:7
We have to be so consumed with God that sin isn’t an option for us. Christians are usually told what to do, wear, say, or go but now that you are so in love with God, that you just are overwhelmed trying to find ways to get to know Him better. You won’t just need people to guide you every step of the way, because the bible says the Holy Ghost will “teach you all things” (John 14:26).
We must stand up as true Christians, and start relying on God. We will fail whenever we have confidence in our flesh. Each day I am learning to rely completely on God. I don’t want a day to go by without me not praying, reading my bible or seeking Him. I know that the day I don’t, I go out into a warfare against the devil and my flesh, with no weapons. Jesus is my defense and His word is my sword. I must seek Him continually, because without Him I am nothing. I’m just a man of sin going to Hell, but with Him, I am more than a conqueror!
Whether you want to admit it or not, you have a sin that you struggle with. You will get over it when you go to God for strength, but you will fall whenever you stop seeking Christ. You may overcome for awhile, but sin will catch up to you. It isn’t about trying to overcome sin, it’s all about pleasing Christ.
Repentance is turning away from all sin and turning to Jesus. My problem was I would stop, and then keep going. We must stop and turn around! Stop sinning and repent, do a 180 degree turn! Many are on the road to destruction, but for all who choose to submit to Christ, they will make it. Not just Sunday Christians, but being Christ-like in every way.
If I can overcome, I know that you can. We serve the same God, and He’s able to do it again for you. Keep your faith and trust God.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for your mercy and your grace. I recognize that I have a besetting sin and I really cannot overcome it alone. I don’t want to try by myself anymore, I pray that you help me. Give me strength where I am weak. Help me to overcome and ignite a fire within me. Give me a passion for holiness, souls, and a heart of a servant. In Jesus name, amen.
God bless,

Now Determines my Eternity

Whether we all want to face reality or not, we will all die. Unless the rapture comes now and some of us go with Jesus, we will all most likely die. Some may see death as a terrible thing. Of course it is hard knowing you will never see some loved ones again, but that should not be the case. We should be happy knowing that person went home to be with The Lord. Unless that person didn’t know God or lived a careless lifestyle.
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:5,7)
– The only people with a hope of eternal life are those that are born again. I know that is sad to say, but it isn’t my opinion, that’s what Jesus said.
– Born again= Baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Lord really laid this message on my heart during a prayer meeting at my church. What God spoke to me is what I hope we will all realize and take seriously, “Your today determines your eternity”.
One mistake I have made, and I believe many make, is to believe that God is just kidding. “Y.O.L.O” is an acronym that is quite popular in today’s generation, meaning You Only Live Once. Many Christians claim that’s false, but if you examine our lifestyles, we sometimes live as though Hell and Heaven are just fairy tales. We claim to love God and yet we deny or ignore Him on a daily basis. As if we are doing God a favor by going to church or obeying the bible.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (Galatians 6:7-8)
God is such a great boss, that He will never let a worker toil so hard and not give them the pay that they earned. Many bosses don’t pay equally and so many complain that their pay isn’t fair. That isn’t the case with God, He will always give what you earned.
Good workers:
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. (Matthew 25:21)
– If you’re good and faithful, you will get into Heaven. God rewards these type of servants.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (John 15:7)
– God promises to give whatever we ask for as long as we are abiding in Him, and He in us.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (John 15:14)
– Many people can profess themselves as Christians, but not many can claim themselves as “Friends of God”. These workers are the only ones that God considers to be His friend.
Bad workers:
For the wages of sin is death;….Romans 6:23 KJV
– Living a life of sin is your decision. I mean at the end of the day, you have your own free-will. Just know God will give you what you deserve, death.
And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. (Luke 12:47)
– We all know what we should do, but if we choose not to, we will be punished because of it.
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. (Luke 19:27)
– God is merciful, but His word says He will slay all of those that didn’t want Him to be God completely over their lives.
God has really opened my eyes to the fact that, every single thing in life has a consequence. Imagine if a couple of guys robbed a bank. They repented and cried out to God. Of course the law still has to deal with them, even after they are forgiven. Jesus loves us, but whatever we do, whether good or evil, has a consequence.
Don’t ever get to the point in your life where you have the impression that the grace of God is a license to sin. Jesus died to free us from sin, not to let us freely sin. We have to understand that by Jesus dying, it really showed His love for us, and the only way we can respond to that love is by our obedience to Him (John 14:15).
Every thing you do now determines your tomorrow. If you want to grow spiritually, you will have to let go of your selfish desires and pick up the bible. Start praying and fasting, less of us and more of Him (John 3:30). If you don’t care about your soul and do nothing to benefit it, you will die spiritually, even if you aren’t sinning. What you feed will live, and what you starve will die.
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. (Luke 13:27)
– If we live a life of sin, we won’t see God.
– When we claim to be saved we have to try our best to live that Christian lifestyle, every single day.
– No one wants to hear those words from God’s mouth . We all find sin fun of course, but we have to deny ourselves so we do not hear God say this. After we fall in love with God, we will fall out of love with sin.
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: (Hebrews 12:14)
– The bible says we must do these things in order for us to see God’s face.
– Not only live holy, but try our best to live at peace with everyone. Even those who we disagree with and those who hate, abuse, or even use us.
Of course some may read this and think “Tovares, you are asking for too much. I can’t handle it.” Or maybe you’re saying, “That is not even necessary, don’t be too deep.” All I can say to you is that it is possible to live holy everyday of your life, even if we stumble. To others, don’t live your entire life and get a rude awakening on judgment day. Live your life everyday in such a way that’ll please God. Also live positively, try to impact the world.
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. (Luke 13:24)
Never give up guys, keep pressing. Don’t live for the now, always remember that your now determines your eternity!
God bless,

Only God is Perfect

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23 KJV)
I believe it is time for us to realize that we are or were all sinners. We only have hope at eternal life because of Jesus Christ.
Don’t judge someone because they sin differently than you.
We all have our flaws. If we were perfect and had it all together, we would not even believe we needed God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:8 KJV)
– God is love, and his love is unconditional.
– Nothing we say or do can make Him love us more or less. He loves us not because of what we do, but because of who He is.
– God surely loves everyone. No matter of your gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, or lifestyle. He doesn’t approve of your sin, but he surely does love you more than you can ever comprehend.
Christians must realize that whenever we see people on the road, it isn’t right to judge or condemn them. That was us without the grace of God.
If we are believers in the church, we must pray that the same God we serve will help these people the same way. You’re a Christian because of the mercy of God, not because of your personality! You’re better than no one, do not become prideful!
We serve a perfect God, but we as humans are not perfect.
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 KJV)
When Jesus spoke these words, he did not say be flawless. The word perfect here means a state of maturity in your Christian walk. So we will stumble here and there, but we should not stay down. We should rise up again and live victorious through Christ.
Since we aren’t perfect let’s spend our time working on ourselves, and stop finding fault with others.
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. (Matthew 7:1-5 KJV)
This does not mean let people live in sin without correcting them. You are to rebuke in love, but you should never look down on others. You have your secret sins, don’t be hard on people because their sin was exposed.
When I wake up and look in the mirror, it is to see what I have to adjust before going out into the public. Not to see what to fix on others! So when I go into my spiritual mirror (the bible), it is to see how to fix my OWN self! We have spend time in our bibles to learn how to fix ourselves up!
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. (Galatians 6:1 KJV)
I believe every man who does wrong must be dealt with, but I strongly believe in a God of second chances. A God of love and mercy.
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (1 John 3:16 KJV)
– There you have it! Lay down your lives for others.
– Don’t ever look at people as your enemies, the only enemy you have is Satan.
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8 KJV)
-Stop exposing others!
-If you love someone, you wouldn’t want to embarrass them or make a mockery of them!
Sin is sin! Righteousness is all God wants, but stop beating on those who really want to do better. Give God the chance to work on them, stop trying to be God in their lives. God changes people, you can only influence them.
This blog is not to condemn anyone or beat up on those who verbally abuse people. Just to ask everyone to examine themselves. God bless! Share this, live it, practice it. Be the difference you want to see in the world.

Fresh Start

Thankfully, we are all alive and blessed today. Considering the fact that we are reading this post here, we have a good enough reason to be grateful.
It is easy to wake up and focus on yesterdays failures, sins, troubles, etc. However, worrying doesn’t solve anything.
Why worry when you can pray?
None of us woke ourselves up today. Yes, we may have had an alarm but ultimately, being alive is because of God allowing us to have another day on this Earth.
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23).
Today we are have new mercies. We could have been headed straight to Hell but thanks be to God, we have a hope of eternal life. Don’t choose to live in defeat. Don’t beat yourself up over past mistakes. Repent and do something great today. Instead of seeking that blessing from God, start seeking a way to bless others.
Our hands aren’t just made to receive, but also to give. Give God praise today.
Your situation could have been worse. Be grateful. Serve the Lord with gladness! Stay encouraged, stay holy, keep pressing. God bless!
