Stop Chasing Butterflies

I receive many questions from people who want to know how can they tell if someone is the one for them. We’ve made a YouTube video about the concept of “the one” and wrote a blog about knowing how you can tell if they’re the one for you, you should check it out if you haven’t already. However, it confuses me when someone says they’re with someone who’s amazing and loves God, treats them right, but something is missing.
“Well…. what’s missing?”
“I don’t know. I just don’t have those butterflies I’d expect to have.”

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)

Can I tell you something that you know, but can easily forget? Your feelings will destroy you. Your feelings will have you running back to relationships that God delivered you out of. Your feelings will have you running back to abusive relationships, because you’re focused on memories instead of reality. Your feelings will have you thinking it’s okay to to let your flesh take control, but you know in your heart what God is telling you to do.
DO NOT ALLOW SOCIAL MEDIA, FRIENDS OR TELEVISION TO TELL YOU WHAT TRUE LOVE IS.
If you want to know true love, look at the Bible’s definition of it (1 Corinthians 13). Too many expect life to be like Love and Basketball or The Notebook. All of these Disney and movie fantasies will have you ignoring your blessing that you’re praying about. Many people want a godly relationship, but when they have a godly person in their lives that’ll correct them when they’re falling or lukewarm, they take it as judgement. So you want a godly relationship, but you don’t want God? Some people claim they want true love, but they really just want someone they can post on social media. Just because all of your friends are dating or married, that doesn’t mean God is telling you to do the same.
Don’t get me wrong, I love being married, but I honestly believe many of us don’t understand that marriage is way more than we think. We have to understand that marriage is a ministry as well and God has to prepare us for it. I honestly believe our motives are what causes us to have our blessings delayed (read more about that here).

“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” 2 Corinthians 5:7

I’ve learned that we live in a generation of people that are driven by emotions (see Provers 30:12). We disregard the word of God, and we go by opinions instead of scripture. We don’t like correction, because our feelings are placed higher than God at times.

“There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.” (Proverbs‬ ‭30:12‬)

There are days when my marriage isn’t all sunshine and roses. I absolutely love my wife and our marriage is great (she said so as well, so don’t think I’m being dramatic lol). However, that does NOT mean we are happy every single waking moment of the day. There are some days when it’s like she can’t wait to hug me, and there are some times when I’m sure her hands just want to hug my neck. If we go by those days when there are no “butterflies”, we’d foolishly think God didn’t bring us together. When we don’t feel those “butterflies”, does that mean it’s time to jump ship? No. It’s time to keep cultivating our love so it doesn’t die out.
Does that mean I’m telling you to settle? NO, PLEASE DON’T SETTLE. I get butterflies when I’m around my wife still. But you have to understand feelings should not dictate your future. Pray regarding that person. If God gives you peace regarding them and He gives you confirmation to keeping the relationship, then don’t give up on them just because you don’t feel happy all the time.
Grace and peace.

Who Gets More Time?

The easiest way to tell what a person loves is by checking where they spend the most time, money, and their talents. Everyone may not believe in God, but everyone worships. Some worship Jesus, while others worship other gods, their boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse, their car, homes, education, music artists and actors, models, or social networks. Sad to say, but many of us worship ourselves. Of course none of us bow down to these things or people (at least I hope not), but we worship them because we dedicate most of our time to them rather than to God. Am I saying God wants us to wake up and pray/read our bible until we fall asleep? No, but He surely shouldn’t have to compete to be in our schedule. God wants to be in control of our entire life not a part of our life.
So let me propose a question to you: who or what do you worship? Please don’t just say “God, duh. Next question.” Rather, please examine your busy schedule and see if it is centered around God. Let God be the most important part of your day or get the most devotion. Of course we all have things to do like work, school, take care of family, etc. but that’s no excuse to give God a few minutes of a day that He did not even have to give us. We should start trying to spend more time with God than with our television. That person you love may be great, but they do not deserve more time than the Man who thought you were to die for, Jesus! We often go through our “busy schedule” and find time to squeeze in the mall, phones, social networks, gossip, sin, gym, and then we give God the five minute prayer before a meal or bed (even though we are already half asleep).
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; (Psalms 63:1)
By no means am I saying that “my priorities are set, I spend time with God for hours and I am perfect”. I am doing my best to give Him more time, as we all should. When we look at this previous verse we must understand what David was really trying to convey. David was in a literal wilderness! When in those types of conditions you’re without proper nutrition, any friends around, etc. Take Jesus for an example, after fasting in the wilderness, He was very hungry after (Matthew 4:2). However, despite David’s condition, he said he wanted more of God. David had an hunger for God, knowing that more of God was all that matters. He did not care about himself, but his mind was on getting more from God. Even though David committed adultery, he was considered as “a man after God’s heart” (Acts 13:22). It is not about your mistake, it is about your willingness to get up and seek God again. David was in constant pursuit of making God his number one priority.
Here are a few questions that I want us to read and answer truthfully. Do not be in denial, God knows the REAL you.
– Do we care more about winning souls to Christ or about our followers on social networks?
– Are we focused on living a life acceptable to God or one that conforms to society and makes us not looked weird or called “too holy”?
– Are we giving more to God with our tithes and offering than we do to the mall?
– Are we giving God leftovers or our best?
– Are we serving God with gladness or out of guilt, obligation, and fear of Hell?
– Do we know more lyrics than we know scriptures?
– Do we reach for our phone or bible when we get up?
– Do we pray for others or talk about them?
– Do we shout louder in praise or over a sporting event?
– Is Instagram more interesting than prayer?
There are so many questions that we can ask ourselves, but this is not to make us feel guilty, ashamed, or even say “you don’t earn salvation, you accept it”. This is about us willing to boldly forsake our worldly ways and pursue Christ. After all, God does not want most of our life, He wants us completely surrendered to Him. What can God do with someone who only wants to worship Him in a church setting? God cannot use a cyber Christian, God wants full time obedience. Worship the Creator, not His creation. People and things should never get more time and appreciation than God. Be grateful for everything you have, but do not make God feel as though you no longer care about Him. Jesus died for us, we should live for Him. Jesus did not die for us to go to church on Sunday and live like He doesn’t exist the rest of the week. What are you hungry for? Fame? Money? Love? Respect? None of that matters if you gain it and lose your soul (Matthew 16:25). Seek God now while you can, our days are limited. Let’s stop wasting it focused on the wrong things.
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. (Isaiah 55:6)

Desperate Christians

I am really grateful that Jesus Christ would come on this earth to die for my sins. However, I don’t think Christ died just for me to attend church. Many do not understand what it means to “accept Christ”. It is more than believing He exists. It requires total dependence on Him and having an actual relationship with Him outside of your church. When Christ died he wasn’t only making a new covenant. He was also providing the gateway to Heaven. In John 14:6, Jesus said He is “the way”. That wasn’t only signifying getting into Heaven. Jesus is the way to our destiny, he’s the way to eternal life, and he’s the only way we can live above sin.
Unfortunately, many Christians have become comfortable. Souls are dying without knowing Christ, but instead of us preaching the gospel to them we rather be in our phones all day. We cannot say “Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me”, and then we hide Him from people. We sing songs like “To worship You, I live. I live to worship You(Jesus)”, but we forget about Christ during the week. Jesus wants to be in every part of our life. We cannot pick God up for church services and put Him down at school, around friends, or at work. Jesus didn’t come on earth and die for us to just go to church and wear long skirts, nice hats, fancy suits, sing a few songs, hear a well put together sermon to leave and live like an atheist. Being a Christian is not just speaking in tongues, it is living the way Jesus did.
God is looking for someone desperate for more of Him. Someone willing to seek Him in the good and bad, money or no money, car or on the bus, new clothes or borrowed clothes! A man or woman that will read the bible to know more of God, not just a couple times a week. Someone willing to pray before they get a bad report. It is time to go beyond the external and get a hunger for the One, true Living God!
Jacob wrestled with God all night. God had to touch the hollow of his thigh, which basically dislocated it, to get Him to stop. Jacob’s response was that “I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.” (See Genesis 32:22-32)
  • Jacob ended up getting the blessing, all because of his persistence. So many would’ve probably just let go once we were asked, but Jacob was determined to get something from God.
  • After this experience, God changed His name from Jacob to Israel and changed his body. So we see here that any man who has a real worship experience or something intimate with God, will not walk the same as before and will have a new identity.
The woman with the issue of blood could have accepted her sickness and just died, Matthew 9:20-22.
  • Doctors could not help her at all, for 12 years. She could have just accepted that and died.
  • She had a need and was desperate for it to be met! She knew Jesus was able to heal her and she had faith to just touch the hem of His garment. By faith she was healed.
  • Many were bumping into Jesus, because it was packed. What made her any different from anyone in there in need of deliverance? Her faith and desperation!
The reason why many of us aren’t filled with God’s spirit, is because we are not hungry or thirsty enough yet. It is a promise from God that everyone hungry or thirsty for righteousness will be filled, Matthew 5:6. And the truth is, if you aren’t hungry for God, you have your affections on something else. There should be no idol in our lives, God is a jealous God. We have to desire more of Him and stop settling on being mediocre Christians, it is time to seek Christ like never before. No matter what we do in life, if we don’t give it our all, we are wasting our time. Now you tell me, are you desperate for more of Jesus?

The Bible, My Guide

When searching for something in a dark room, the first thing someone would do is turn on a light. It is almost impossible to be in a pitch black room and be able to find different objects. As Christians we have to understand that not only are we the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:14), but the word of God brings light to us. We must read and study it.
I once said that if you have time for Facebook, you have time for God. I thought it was a reasonable and non-offensive post, yet not everyone felt that way. I have noticed that many doctrines or churches have gave their members the wrong impression of God. We know that we are saved by grace, so now many believe “I’m set, and there’s nothing to do”. Beyond false! Legalism is reading your bible and praying as a ritual, to-do list, or to justify yourself. Jesus said we live by the Word of God (Matthew 4:4). We should be in our words because that is our only way of survival. If we don’t make time to learn about God then we will always have a carnal mind, and that’s a mind that will never please God (Romans 8:6-8). So don’t let someone give you the impression that you don’t have to read or study a lot.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalms 119:105)
– We live in a world full of darkness. Darkness is found in the media, music, schools, jobs, and almost everywhere that you can possibly go.
– The bible brings light into our dark situations. When we do not know what decision to make, the bible is said to be a light on our path.
– Many of us are in circles with people that hate us and dislike us but we cannot see. The bible is a lamp to our feet. We will never see the snakes on the floor unless we are in our bible! Neither will we know that the word said bad communication will corrupt us(1 Corinthians 15:33).
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. (Hosea 4:6)
– People believe the devil is the one trying to kill them, but actually we are the ones killing ourselves by our own ignorance.
– Being ignorant of satan’s tricks will cause us to fail time and time again.
– This scripture says that we have REJECTED knowledge! When we want to learn how to work a phone, we keep trying until we get it right. When we want to learn how to drive, we keep messing up and trying until we get it right. When in relationships, we spend time with them to see what they like and dislike. God sees all of that! So when we claim we don’t have time, He understands that we just don’t want to. When we claim to not understand a scripture, he watches to see if we will pray about it or just won’t care at all to figure it out.
– If we reject God (bible), He will reject us, and even our children.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:17)
– In this spiritual warfare that we are in, we can only defend ourselves with the word of God.
– Jesus rebuked satan with the scriptures, Matthew 4. Not with tongues, songs or any other source.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I come to you because I need you. I cannot live or walk in life without your word, so I pray that you give me a hunger for your word. I pray that when I read, that I’ll take heed and obey everything that I read. Help me to do more than study, but to apply the scriptures to my life. Quicken me with your words. Let Your words come to life and manifest in me. In Jesus name, amen!

Unshakeable Faith

There are three types of people in this world:
1. Those going into a storm
2. Those already in a storm
3. Those coming out of a storm
In this life we must all know that we will face trials. No matter who we are, one thing we cannot escape is problems. So many trust in their riches, friends, and even in their own intellect. Not saying that these are bad, but every one of these resources can fail us. If you’re sick and about to die, do you believe you will be healed because you’re rich or have a masters degree? No not at all, which is why each and everyone of us need our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can see us through each and every single problem that we can possibly face!
We all claim and profess to have faith and trust God when times are going well. However, when it gets a little rocky, it is very easy for us to begin to doubt God. Not too long ago a child in my church was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors said he will die in two days without surgery, and with surgery he would turn out “mentally challenged”. Yet, we did not put our trust in doctors, we placed our faith in God. Now I can tell you that months went by and he is now healed because of God. My mother was told she had a lump in her breast and of course it was a bit nerve wrecking, but we trusted God. He healed her body and now she has no cancer. I mentioned my mother because times are still hard after. I reminded her recently, “if God can heal cancer, then He can take care of your bills”.
MANY are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them ALL. (Psalm 34:19)
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8)
– If God was a healer yesterday, He still is today, and He surely will be the same God tomorrow.
– God helped people before, what makes you think He has forgotten you?
– The bible isn’t full of fairy tales. Whatever the Bible states happened and can happen again!
– If He worked out a situation before, He can again, so please don’t get worried.
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:46-49)
– This shows us that every single person will go through a problem, no matter who you are.
– Only those who are obedient to God and trust in Him will stand after troubles come their way.
– Those without faith and a firm foundation in Christ will fall under pressure.
But without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I come to you as humble as I know how. I really don’t know what my future holds, but I trust you because I know that You hold my future. Help me not to fear no matter what comes my way. As I go through my many tests, I pray that you increase my faith. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

Imperfect, Yet Victorious

There will always be a time in someone’s life where they will fail at something. No one will always go through their life without troubles. You may lose a game in sports, you may fail an exam, and you may even be a devoted Christian that falls into sin.
Jesus is well aware that a Christian will go through temptation, hard trials, and will have many obstacles to overcome. He was God in human form, but the bible showed that He was well aware of life’s troubles.
– Read John 17, that was Jesus’ prayer for us.
– For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)
Jesus overcame the world. His spirit within us now empowers us to overcome sin, temptation, and every trial.
If you struggle with any of the upcoming situations, let me just give you a few scriptures to uplift you.
• Sickness:
– But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
– If you never been sick, how would you know that God is a healer?
• Low income:
– But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:6, 7, 10)
– I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. (Psalm 37:25)
– Money isn’t everything. Don’t serve God for a big bank account.
• Fear:
– For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
– There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
– When God is on your side, there is nothing to be afraid of.
• Feeling Condemned:
– There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)
– Jesus convicts us so we can repent, the devil condemns so we can avoid the presence of God.
• Indecisive:
– The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. (Psalm 37:23)
– Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
– We will never be sure of what to do unless we are aligned with God and allow Him to lead us.
• Sexual Temptation:
– There hath no temptation taken you but such as is COMMON to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
– Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
– If you feed into it, you will fall into it. That’s like digging a grave that you’ll eventually fall into. Starve it and it’ll die. Be careful what you listen to, watch, and entertain.
• Consistently falling into Sin:
– Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
– If you never submit to God, you will NEVER have the power to resist sin.
• Unforgiveness:
– But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (Matthew 5:44)
– Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (Matthew 18:21- 22)
– Of course it gets annoying forgiving the same person over and over for the same reasons but forgiveness isn’t for them, it is for you. Not forgiving and being bitter is like drinking poison and expecting the next person to die.
People in the bible also had issues, but God used them!
– Timothy was too young.
– David stole a mans wife and had him killed.
– Paul used to kill Christians.
– Peter denied Jesus.
The list goes on and on.
You have your issues that need to be fixed, but stop trying to do it by yourself. Let Jesus fix it, you cannot do anything by yourself.
– Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (John 15:4)
You are striving towards perfection, but you have to understand what perfection is. Biblical perfection speaks of maturity.
– This stage is where you are producing much fruit, see Galatians 5:22-23.
– This stage doesn’t mean you will have no fault. You are just less likely to sin because you rely on God more and you are very close to Him.
Stop beating yourself up. We are fighting from victory, not for victory. The battle is already won!
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (Mark 13:13)

True Love

Love is a word that is often misused and misunderstood. I believe part of the reason why we have so many ruined relationships are because people do not actually know what it means to love. Sometimes a person uses the word to get something from you, or because you are just close at the time.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:8)
– God is love. True genuine, unconditional love is from God.
– God doesn’t even love to get something from us, He simply loves because of who He is.
– Love gives and doesn’t demand anything in return. However, after experiencing the love, it causes a reaction in you to do something in return.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
– God hates sin, but he took on sin(flesh) to save humanity.
– When a King can come off of his throne to rescue a world from eternity in Hell, that is true love.
Worship is love responding to love. (Anonymous)
– Worship is not just what we do in service to music, it is who we are when we wake up everyday of our lives.
– Everyone worships. Some worship Jesus, some worship things. Living a devoted life to Christ shows our love to Him.
– If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15)
What are the characteristics of love?
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT)
What isn’t love?
– When people gossip and slander others. (Proverbs 10:18)
– Counting faults and not forgiving. (1 Peter 4:8 and Matthew 18:21-22)
– Being selfish and wanting to please yourself before helping others. (Romans 12:10)
– Discord sowers : People who go around telling things about people causing others to dislike them.
– A temporary emotion.
As children of God, we should act like God. Sadly, so often Christians possess qualities that God said he hates:
There are six things the LORD hates—
no, seven things he detests: haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family. (Proverbs 6:16-19 NLT)
That is why we have to seek God daily because in our hearts are things that we try to hide but God sees them.
So many end up in relationships with people who don’t love God.
– Marriages by non-Christians sometimes last longer than marriages in the church. That’s because some people are in church but yet they have not allowed love to be in there hearts.
– You can be in a relationship and it may seem well, but whenever someone doesn’t love God, they can never love you the way you should be loved.
– Everyone is human, but a person with the love of God in them knows what it means to forgive, be patient, and to walk with someone.
– If you have to disobey God to “prove your love”, that isn’t the relationship to be in. If you have to compromise your purity, that isn’t love, that is lust.
Whether people show love to you or not, it is your responsibility to love them. That was a command by Jesus.
– But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (Matthew 5:44)
– Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21)
Salvation is a free gift today to everyone that believes and decides to follow Jesus.
– For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8)
– Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)
Reminders:
Ignore the devil’s lies and accept God’s truth.
– If the devil says you’re worthless, remind Him that Jesus thinks you’re to die for.
– If you ever feel ugly, remind yourself that you’re fearfully and wonderfully made. You are God’s masterpiece. See Psalm 139:14 and Ephesians 2:10.
– If you ever feel condemned, remember Jesus convicts us so we can repent, but He doesn’t condemn his children. See Romans 8:1
– When the enemy says you’ll never overcome that temptation, remind yourself that Jesus provides a way of escape and his grace is sufficient to see you through. See 1 Corinthians 10:13 & 2 Corinthians 12:9
– When you fall and feel as though you cannot get up or no one is there is to help you, remember that Jesus is there to guide you. See Psalms 37:23-24
When you feel lonely and want to settle with just any man/woman you see, remind yourself you are better than that. Jesus has someone for you if you wait. Jesus completes you, not a husband/wife. See Colossians 2:9-10
God bless you, and always remember, Jesus loves you.

It's Time to Fight

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:17 KJV)
Christians usually get spiritual warfare mistaken. One mistake we have is understanding who we are to fight, and how to fight!
Who are we fighting?
-We have one enemy, the devil. We argue and have problems with people, but people aren’t our enemies.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (2 Corinthians 10:3, 4 KJV)
-We must understand that the same way that Christians aim to be led by the spirit of God, some people are led by the devil and by their flesh (human, sinful desires).
-The devil went into Judas and caused him to betray Jesus. The devil also influences the lives of others, sometimes they aren’t aware.
It is time to stop cursing at people. We were called to build one another up with love. You can’t use the same mouth to glorify God and curse people, that isn’t acceptable to God!
How do we fight the devil?
Not to use:
– Speaking in tongues
– Arguing
– Shouting, screaming, dancing, etc.
What to use:
– The word of God. Nothing more, nothing less. (See Matthew 4:1-11)
When Jesus was tempted by the devil, he was coming right off of a fast.
-The devil tried to test Jesus saying, if he was the Son of God, command these stones to become bread. Keep in mind, Jesus was HUNGRY! He went 40 days without food. The devil is fully aware of our needs and desires, he studies us. So he will tempt us by something he knows we are interested in. If you like a certain type of male/female, he will tempt you with it. However, Jesus answered it is written. He rebuked him with the word of God.
– The word of God is the only thing we can use to fight off the devil.
The devil also tried to quote Psalm 91 to Jesus while tempting him, Jesus rebuked him again with the word.
– When you don’t know your word, you’re defenseless against the enemies attack.
– God’s command was that Adam and Eve not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When the devil tempted Eve, she said that they shouldn’t eat or touch it. That was not what God said. When we don’t know our word, the devil will pick us apart!
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 KJV)
– This scripture is true, all scripture is truth.
– If we ignore satan’s lies, the devil will eventually leave you alone. If you don’t bite his bait, he will have to leave to find something else to bring to you.
However, the devil is persistent. He will throw thoughts of lust, perversion, stealing, bitterness, fear, and even stress. So you must know that when all of your defenses are failing, get on offense. Attack him!
I don’t believe in going out and finding demons, but if they arise I have to know how to defend myself. With my sword!
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)
No demon in Hell can fight against you, and win, when you have your sword.
Keep your sword armed, keep it in your heart! Keep it in your spirit! We cannot prevail in anything we do, without knowing Christ. God grants favor to everyone, but when a child of God knows their sword, devils cannot mess with them!
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11 KJV)
It is not time to be a powerless Christian anymore, stand up and fight!
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4 KJV)
God bless,

Love God. Love People.

We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19 KJV)
Most people are quite aware of this scripture. We all know that God loved us first. Before he even created us, God had an unconditional love for mankind. Which is why we love and serve Him.
Q: How do we love God?
A: Simple, obedience.
-If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15 KJV)
-God doesn’t ask us for anything except obedience. He doesn’t ask us for our opinions, our inputs, or anything else. Our love is expressed through obedience.
-Many prove their love through many religious acts. However, doing things in church or for a church doesn’t mean you love God. It could be for recognition, or fear of Hell.
-Some choose to tattoo scriptures on their bodies to show the world their faith. An outward expression of their inward person. However, this isn’t necessary to be a disciple. The world knows we are Christ followers by one thing, our love for people.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:35 KJV)
-Jesus didn’t do have to do much for others to believe him or accept his ministry. He showed love to sinners and they were immediately drawn to Him.
-They didn’t understand why he spoke to sinners, but he said: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:32 KJV)
-If we ever become to “high” that we cannot be reachable, we have failed as God’s ambassadors.
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (Matthew 22:37-39 KJV)
-So here we see that loving God is our number one priority, but now we must take it into consideration that loving others is second!
False beliefs:
1. God first, then family, then others.
2. God. Me. Others.
Truth:
J.O.Y: Jesus. Others. Yourself
You come last! Jesus came as God in flesh but he never made his priorities come first. He was always mindful of the situation of others!
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (Philippians 2:7-10 KJV)
We must learn to love people the way we love ourselves.
-You don’t like to look or dress bad. Maybe you should find someone less fortunate and help fix them up.
-You like having money? Find someone without lunch and feed them.
-On judgment day, many wont make it because of their selfish behaviors. Need proof?
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (Matthew 25:41-46 KJV)
Question: When was the last time we visited the sick? Not the ones related to us.
When did we ever buy something to eat and drink for a homeless person?
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. (1 John 4:20, 21 KJV)
-Yes this is something serious now, haha. If you are still reading, you obviously want to grow. God bless you!
-The bible clearly states we can’t love an invisible God and dislike a visible man.
-We will NEVER agree with a man 100%, but disagreements shouldn’t cause bitterness, envy, rage, anger, gossip, etc.
-If you even hate a person, the bible says you’re a murderer. There will be no killers in heaven!
-If you love God, love people.
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (Matthew 18:21, 22 KJV)
-We all have people in our lives that makes us upset over and over, if we don’t, maybe we are that person.
-Jesus still said keep forgiving.
-Forgiveness isn’t for them, it’s for you.
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8 KJV)
-It doesn’t say love tolerates sin, but it says that it covers it.
-Don’t spread rumors about people, and don’t be so quick to give up on people.
-Love hides their faults and love raises them back up!
Do something different today! Choose to smile when you’re insulted. When that person offends you, walk away. When you have 200 reasons to fight, curse, be bitter, remember Jesus! Remember that he endured so much ridicule, for you and I to overcome!
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. (Hebrews 12:3 KJV)
Have a blessed day! Show love, stop hate.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King
